I'm back and fully operational for the new year.
First of all, I wish you all the best for 2012. May this year be rewarding, interesting and exciting!
My work at France Culture is now over and I'm going back in my studies, I'm approaching dangerously my final degree.
I'll be able to reinvest Life's Decay in which I have a lot of ideas and things to do.
A new album is on its way!
I am currently also preparing a book with a series of drawings I made from 2009 to 2011, it will be on sale soon, I'm working actively on it.

Me revoilà opérationnelle en ce début de nouvelle année.
Tout d’abord, je vous souhaite le meilleur pour 2012. Que cette année soit enrichissante, intéressante, et excitante !
Mon travail à France Culture est désormais terminé et je repars dans mes études, j’approche dangereusement de mon diplôme final.
Je vais pouvoir me réinvestir dans Life’s Decay, et je ne manque pas d’idées ni de choses à faire.
Un nouvel album est en route !
Actuellement, je prépare également un livre personnel constitué d’une série de dessins que j’ai réalisés de 2009 à 2011, il sera bientôt en vente, j’y travaille activement.

J’ai pu découvrir un petit salon de thé fascinant, une petite antre mystérieuse et chaleureuse qui m’a recueillie glacée après une longue balade dans le froid des rues londoniennes.
Entre salon de thé et boutique de vêtements et d’accessoires vintage, essentiellement début de siècle, le décor est résolument magique.

Last years Lonely Christmas was presented on 2 discs, in cardboard case, 26 artists spanning quite a mixed bag. This year's we decided to be kinder to the artists by giving them more minutes, but it turned out they didn't care for that... but still topping up with 36 artists, or at least 36 guises of various underground individuals the compilation manages to get you thru what would be an extremely long day.

Like last year, near all participants forgot the ode to christmas the album was supposed to be and made nothing christmas based, this year even more fucked it. My job at France Culture has extended a little, I will be back up in late December!

Since September, I am realizing an internship at "France Culture", at "Radio France".
It is very rewarding, fulfilling and informative!
So, all my time is taken by this great experience.

I recently visited the "Paris-Delhi-Bombay" exhibition at the Centre Pompidou of Paris.
A must see. A real meeting, great pieces of art, an intelligent and interesting course and one of my favorite artists presented in the exhibition: Nalini Malani (her works are not in the photos, hard to photograph as it is moving drawings).
That makes a lot of reasons!

J'ai récemment visité l'exposition Paris-Delhi-Bombay au Centre Pompidou, à Paris.
A voir absolument. Une véritable rencontre, de superbes pièces, un parcours intelligent et intéressant et une de mes artistes préférées présentée à l'exposition : Nalini Malani (l'oeuvre n'est pas dans les photos, dure à photographier, il s'agît de dessins mis en mouvement).
Ça en fait des raisons !

At the occasion of the open house of the Beaux-Arts of Paris, I invested a very dark part of one of the building's cellars with an artist friend. The result is an exhibition called "Under" where we hung together our drawings and created an ephemeral light installation ... Glimpse.

A l'occasion des portes ouvertes des Beaux-Arts de Paris, j'ai investi des caves très sombres faisant partie d'un des bâtiments de l'école avec une amie artiste. Here is a new band photograph for Life's Decay! We took pictures of each other and then I processed the photo (Life's Decay, eternal Do It Yourself!) The photo was taken a little while ago now but I had a lot of hesitation whith the colors. I try to make color photographs, although they are fairly close to the black and white. The endless problem is that the colors are always different from my screen, my printer and the offset printing plants in case we print this photo on a forthcoming booklet... This is one the reasons that pushed me to make monochrome artworks!

Voici une nouvelle photo de groupe pour Life's Decay ! Nous nous sommes pris en photo à tour de rôle et j'ai ensuite traité l'image (Life's Decay, éternel Do It Yourself !). Cette photo a été prise il y a un petit moment maintenant mais j'ai eu pas mal d'hésitations quant aux couleurs. Je cherche à faire des photos couleur bien qu'elles soient assez proches du noir et blanc. L'éternel problème est que les couleurs seront toujours différentes entre mon écran, mon imprimante et les imprimantes offset des usines si l'on imprime cette photo sur un prochain livret... C'est une des raisons qui m'a poussé à faire des artworks en aplats monochrome !

A little loose period after my first degree.
We have new ideas for Life's Decay, but we are into a little break at the moment. Well earned after 8 years of good and loyal service.
To be honest, the rest will be short: I'm learning guitar and concocting new things ...
You have seen a lot of changes during those eight years and we have always been punctual for the release of our albums. Our work has always been made with passion but now the music market has changed and we feel a little bit lonely ... We did not find musicians with whom it really worked out. The live formation is delayed. I also had a lot of work in order to prepare my degree and it is difficult to cut myself in half. We are at a period in our lives when we must make choices, but it is clear that we will never give up music. However, we must redefine our priorities, our desires, etc.

De Alea:
Petite période de mou après mon diplôme.
Nous avons de nouveaux projets pour Life's Decay, mais nous faisons actuellement une petite pause. Assez méritée tout de même après 8 ans de bons et loyaux services.
En vérité, le repos sera de courte durée : j'apprends la guitare et concocte de nouvelles choses... Envie de nouveaux horizons.
Vous nous avez vus beaucoup évoluer durant ces huit années et nous avons toujours été ponctuels concernant la sortie de nos albums. Ce travail s'est toujours fait dans la passion mais aujourd'hui, le marché de la musique a beaucoup changé et nous nous sentons un peu seuls... Nous n'avons pas trouvé de musiciens avec qui cela a vraiment fonctionné. Le projet de scène est donc remis à plus tard. J'ai aussi eu un travail énorme afin de préparer mon diplôme, donc difficile de se couper en deux. Nous sommes à un moment de notre vie où nous devons faire des choix, mais il est évident que nous n'abandonnerons jamais la musique. Nous devons néanmoins redéfinir nos priorités, nos envies etc.

I am graduated!

Coney Island is located in the south of Brooklyn (NY) The area is mainly made of amusement parks, founded in the years 1860/1870, bordered by the beach. The amusement parks reached the peak of their popularity in the early twentieth century and declined after the Second World War. Today, some of the original attractions have been destroyed, others are abandoned, some remain active like the Wonder Wheel and since 2010, some renovations and new attractions have been build. The idea of going to Coney Island came to me after watching the movie "The Warriors" from 1979. We went to the seasonal opening and the atmosphere was quite dead. Many things are still closed but the old abandoned attractions were worth the look. The ride on the great "Wonder Wheel" from 1918 was also very nice.

We just got back from New York.
Lyktwasst once again had its share of computer problems. It is becoming an (unpleasant) habit for him!
My computers are holding up on my side.
I think there is a kind of technological malediction above his head.
Our sound cards are doing well, thank you.
Honestly, it is hard to get by the tiredness accumulated during the trip and jet lag.
I am preparing important exams and especially, especially: my first degree.
Needless to say I am a bit stressed.
We had a great time in New York, it aims to get back to work now.
Of course, we thought of our readers and here are some first pictures of a small series that will drive the blog a little while.
We have seen it all in New York!
We met a very friendly cat who came to visit us sometime in our little apartment, we also met some really great squirrels. Yes, I love animals. And pugs.

Nous voici fraîchement revenus de New-York.
Lyktwasst a encore eu son lot d'ennuis informatiques. Ca devient une habitude (déplaisante) pour lui !
Mes ordinateurs tiennent le coup de mon côté.
A croire qu'il tient une malédiction technologique au-dessus de sa tête.
Nos cartes son se portent bien, merci.
Honnêtement, je me remets mal de la fatigue accumulée durant le voyage et le décalage horaire fait encore des siennes.
Je prépare d'importants examens et surtout, surtout : mon premier diplôme.
Inutile de vous dire que je suis un brin stressée.
Nous avons eu du bon temps à New-York, il s'agît de se remettre au travail maintenant.
Bien sûr, nous avons pensé à nos lecteurs et voici quelques premières photos d'une petite série qui va alimenter le blog un petit moment.
Nous avons vu de tout à New-York !
Nous avons rencontré un chat très sympathique qui est venu nous rendre visite quelque fois dans notre petit appartement, nous avons également rencontré des écureuils vraiment top.

C'est mignon, non ? Mais Lyktwasst n'est pas entièrement de cet avis.

Otherwise, no luck, my computer has crashed again. I persist in wanting to keep my old PC because we must stop changing computers and phones every year. My computer is 6 years old, it crashes sometimes but it is still running fine with XP. So back to repair, recovery in the next few days, time loss anticipated to reinstall all my softwares but no data loss thanks to my several external hard drives ...

Nous voilà de retour de New-York après un petit séjour pluvieux mais sympathique. De petits blog-posts suivront avec de petites photos prochainement !

Autrement, pas de chance, mon ordinateur a encore planté. Je m'obstine a vouloir garder mon vieux PC car il faut cesser de changer les ordinateurs et téléphones tous les ans. Mon ordinateur a 6 ans, parfois il plante mais il tient la route avec XP. Retour en réparation, récupération prochaine, quelques jours de perte à prévoir pour réinstaller tous mes logiciels mais pas de données perdues grâce à mes divers disques durs externes...

A new track with the Korg Monotron (analogue ribbon synthesizer)

I recently bought a tiny pocket synthesizer, I am talking about the Korg Monotron (analogue ribbon synthesizer). It sounds like a gimmick but it is a real instrument that gives very interesting sounds. However, playing on it like if it were a piano would not give any satisfactory result. No, it is an instrument to make electronic, noise and minimalism sounds. Once this is understood, I decided to record a track only by using this little tool. Of course, with multi-tracks recordings because one only track with the monotron will never give anything catchy. So, a new track that length a little over two minutes has been made. Very pleasant.

J'ai récemment acheté un minuscule synthétiseur de poche, il s'agit du Korg Monotron (analogue ribbon synthesizer). Cela ressemble à un gadget mais c'est néanmoins un véritable instrument pouvant sortir des sons très intéressant. Il n'est cependant pas question de faire des mélodies comme avec un piano : cela ne donnerait aucun résultat satisfaisant. Non, c'est un instrument pour faire des bruits électroniques, noise et minimaliste. Ceci étant compris, j'ai décidé de faire un morceau uniquement à l'aide de ce petit instrument. Bien entendu, avec des pistes superposés car une seule piste de monotron ne donnera jamais rien d’entraînant. Un nouveau morceau d'un petit peu plus de deux minutes voit donc le jour. Fort sympathique.

Sacrebleu ! C'est que nous sommes toujours à la recherche d'un batteur ou d'une batteuse sur Paris !!

We have talk about the first "Endtroduction" CDR in a previous post HERE.

"Endtroduction" was thus the first Life's Decay recorded track.
In the previous post, it was a picture with the first hand-drawn logo. Now, here is the very first logo that was done with a computer.
The very first Life's Decay website was in the same color theme and did not last more than a few weeks before I quickly use a monochrome black and white imagery. The photograph shows a CDR that was printed as an individual copy with only the "Endtroduction" song on it.

"Endtroduction" était donc le tout premier morceau de Life's Decay.
Dans le précédent post, il s'agissait d'une photo avec le premier logo dessiné à la main. Voici maintenant le tout premier logo qui avait été fait par ordinateur.
Le tout premier site de Life's Decay qui n'a pas dû durer plus de quelques semaines était dans les mêmes couleurs avant que je n'utilise très rapidement un monochrome noir et blanc. La photo montre simplement un CDR qui avait été imprimé à titre personnel contenant uniquement le morceau "Endtroduction"

So ? What is going on ? We met several musicians these past days, cellists, drummers ... For the time being, we have not officially hired new people to join us to play for some upcoming live atcs. We have nevertheless begun to organize and to rehearse with a temporary guitarist. We therefore continue our search for a cellist, a drummer, a keyboard/piano player...
We also had the opportunity to do a mini concert in a bar in Paris with other artists. We played "Etesse" and "Cavaleraie" with only vocals, a bass and a guitar. A good exercise to start !

Alors ? Où en sommes-nous ? Nous avons auditionné plusieurs musiciens ces derniers jours, violoncellistes, batteurs... Pour le moment, nous n'avons pas officiellement recruté de nouvelles personnes pour se joindre à nous afin de faire sérieusement de la scène. Nous avons néanmoins commencé à organiser et à faire des répétitions avec un guitariste provisoire. Nous continuons donc nos recherches pour trouver un(e) violoncelliste, un(e) batteur, un(e) synthé/pianiste..
Nous avons également eu l'occasion de faire un mini concert dans un bar à Paris avec d'autres artistes. Nous avons joué "Etesse" et "Cavaleraie" avec donc, chant, basse et guitare. Un bon exercice pour nous échauffer !

Let's be honnest, It has been general crisis along with CD / music crisis. Then, myspace changed and everyone left leaving no usefull tools for artists over the internet. Of course, there are some myspace-look-alike websites (too many)... But they are pretty much all the same, offering similar tools that mainly consist of inviting your facebook friends... So it's getting more and more difficult lately for an artist to get heard and make business.
So... We decided to transform our project into a band. This in order to perform live.

Soyons honnête, la crise générale est apparue et cette dernière fut accompagnée par la crise du disque. Myspace décida ensuite de changer leur site ce qui fit fuir la plupart des gens, laissant les artistes avec peu de ressource sur internet. Certes, il y a d'autres sites similaires à myspace (trop) mais ce ne sont en général que des clones offrant les mêmes options, la principale résidant à importer ses amis facebook... Il est donc aujourd'hui de plus en plus difficile pour un artiste de se faire entendre et de faire des recettes.
Nous avons donc décidé de transformer notre projet en groupe. Ceci, afin de faire de la scène.

Self-mixing some new recordings.

We are currently mixing some new recordings as we learnt a few new techniques in that domain recently. Mixing can be very difficult and takes a lot of time to do as we are self-learning it. But the mix is an artistic step so we always felt the need to do it ourselves.

By the way, when I say "we" about the mix, it's in fact mostly Alea.

I just uploaded a new artwork ! I have made this artwork last summer but I could not think about something to write under it (in order to have a A4 format and not a square that could be mistaken with an album cover). I finally found something this month so this is why it has just been uploaded. All the titles I have made for the past tracks and albums were always single imaginated words with no signification at all. This time, it is different.

Je viens tout juste de mettre un nouvel artwork en ligne ! En fait, j'ai achevé cet artwork durant l'été dernier mais l'inspiration m'a manqué quand j'ai voulu écrire quelque chose sur la surface restante sous le visuel (cela permet d'avoir un format A4 et non un format carré qui pourrait être confondu avec une couverture d'album). J'ai finalement trouvé quelque chose ce mois-ci, ce qui explique pourquoi l'artwork n'est mis en ligne que maintenant. Tous les titres des morceaux et d'albums que j'ai trouvés auparavant étaient systématiquement un mot unique imaginé et dénué de toute signification. Cette fois-ci, c'est tout autre.

We are in a new MySpace era. Very confusing at the begining but we got used to it.. now.. it is in fact a little better then before. Exept that MySpace is the s l o w e s t website we know. I hope that they will fix that. Our thought is that MySpace is also currently suffering of too much of things here and there, mostly adverts. They should be more minimalist, more in a "google" style.

Nous sommes dans une nouvelle ère MySpace. Tout fût très perturbant au début mais nous nous sommes habitués.. désormais.. cette nouvelle version semble presque mieux que la précédente. Ceci dit, MySpace demeure le site le plus l e n t que nous connaissons. J'espère qu'ils régleront ce problème par la suite. Nous avons également tendance à penser que le site souffre d'un surplus d'éléments ici et là, la plupart étant des publicités. Ils devraient définitivement avoir une démarche pus minimaliste à la "google".

I wrote a little about the drawing works I do outside of music. Today I want to talk about some of Lyktwasst who is exploring new horizons these days. He always practiced drawing but it has been a very long time where his works were only developed by the means of the computer and graphic softwares. When he created Life's Decay, his digital artworks came gradually to enrich the project and the music. I think today, after having produced a lot for Life's Decay, he had the will to go back to some more "personal" drawings.
He recently used black ink for his new works.
Buildings in chaos unfold within a great finesse.
I have been surprised how quickly it all happened ...

D'Alea :
Je vous ai un peu parlé du travail de dessin que je mène en dehors de la musique. Aujourd'hui, j'ai envie de parler de celui de Lyktwasst qui est en train d'explorer de nouveaux horizons ces temps-ci. Il a toujours pratiqué le dessin mais il y a eu un très long temps où ses oeuvres ne se sont développées que par le moyen de l'ordinateur et des logiciels de graphisme. Lorsqu'il a créé Life's Decay, ses oeuvres numériques sont venues peu à peu enrichir le projet et la musique. Je pense qu'aujourd'hui, après avoir tant produit pour Life's Decay, il a eu envie de revenir à des dessins plus "personnels".
Il a récemment utilisé l'encre de Chine pour ses nouveaux travaux.
Des bâtiments en proie au chaos s'y déploient avec une grande finesse.
J'ai été étonnée de la rapidité avec laquelle tout ça est venu...

Writing a song is not smooth.
Mine are very personal and very intimate.
I often write short sentences in notebooks when I have ideas, but I do not necessarily use them.
I rarely have a lacks of inspiration to write a song. But writing recently on our new titles is more difficult. I think I have more pressure for the upcoming album. We have also taken a decision about this upcoming album. It is something to expect because our desires have changed ... But we will talk about this later. In another post.
I read a lot and it is obvious that some of the texts are sometimes like "cadavres exquis" of my inspirations, but I do not necessarily want to reveal them all. I have decided deliberately to write only in prose and in French, I can not really explain it clearly (about the prose), perhaps the strong influence of Bonnefoy's texts.

D'Alea :
L'écriture d'une chanson ne se fait pas sans heurt.
Les miennes sont très personnelles et très intimes.
Il m'arrive fréquemment d'écrire de petites phrases dans des cahiers lorsque j'ai des idées, mais je ne m'en sers pas forcément.
J'ai rarement eu des pannes d'inspiration pour écrire une chanson. Mais récemment, écrire sur nos nouveaux titres est plus difficile. Je pense que j'ai plus de pression par rapport au futur album. Nous venons d'ailleurs de prendre une décision par rapport à ce futur album. Il se fait attendre car nos envies ont évolué... Mais nous vous en parlerons plus tard. Dans un autre billet.
Je lis beaucoup et il est sûr que certains des textes sont parfois des cadavres exquis de mes inspirations, mais je n'ai pas forcément envie de les dévoiler toutes. J'ai pris le parti délibéré de n'écrire qu'en prose et en français, je ne saurais pas vraiment l'expliquer clairement (concernant la prose), peut-être la très forte influence des textes de Bonnefoy.

Lyktwasst had burned it onto a CD-R that we still have. The logo (the very first) had been drawn by hand directly on the CD with the title.
At the time, no website, no willingness to do what the project became day after day during those seven years. Just the desire to make music and keep the record on a CD-R. But the idea that will germinate and grow is already in the outline drawing "Life's Decay."
Throwing things away is a bad idea.

Another Exhibition

Apart from Life's Decay, I do practice drawing and I am studying Art at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Recently, we celebrated the opening of an exhibition organized by a gallery from Paris in wich some of my works were. Here is a picture of that opening and a little preview of my work. That was not the first exhibition for me, but I am honored each time many people come to see my works. My drawings and paintings are not included in Life's Decay because we already have a strong visual identity made by Lyktwasst that goes along with the music since the begining.

En dehors de Life's Decay, je pratique le dessin et étudie l'art à l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Récemment, nous avons célébré le vernissage d'une exposition à laquelle j'ai participé, organisée par une galerie de Paris. Voici une image de ce vernissage et un petit aperçu de mon travail. Ce n'était pas la première exposition pour moi, mais à chaque fois, lorsque beaucoup de monde se déplace, j'en suis très honorée. Si nous ne mettons pas en avant mon travail pictural au sein de Life's Decay, c'est parce que Lyktwasst a bâti des années durant un univers visuel qui va de pair avec la musique et pour lequel nous sommes tout à fait reconnaissables.

Here are some views of one of the rooms where we compose and record our music ... A small but useful space which combines the instruments, books, objects, and of course all our equipment. Here is where the ideas come from, where they come together and give birth to our music. Some items are also part of our experimental instruments.
The cello is finally fixed, the weather is dark and rainy and that gives me ideas. We are hearing a lot of music theses days in order to fill our senses in this period of composition. I quite like the idea that creativity can sometimes arise within theses four walls from late listenings and conversations into the night.

Voici quelques vues de l'un des endroits où l'on compose et enregistre notre musique... Un espace petit mais pratique où se côtoient les instruments, des livres, des objets et bien sûr tout notre matériel. C'est ici que naissent les idées, qu'elles s'assemblent et qu'elles donnent naissance à notre musique. Certains objets font partis de nos instruments expérimentaux.
Le violoncelle est enfin réparé, le temps est sombre et pluvieux et il me donne des idées. Ces temps-ci nous écoutons beaucoup de musique, histoire de nous remplir les sens au maxium en période de composition. J'aime assez l'idée que la création peut parfois naître en quatre murs, de conversations tard dans la nuit et d'écoutes assidues.

Here are two photographs we took about two weeks ago back when we were in Normandy ... Two quite different atmospheres.
The weather is pretty bad these days. Temperatures are droping down and rain invites itself.
That leaves some room for reflection and work despite the fact that the cello is currently unusable ... Lyktwasst has made significant progress on a new track. In a few days, he almost finished the composition and the recording of the different bass and guitar parts. On my side, I advanced on my vocal parts. Sometimes the composition is made together and sometimes we are working alone and talk once the work is done.
I would like to go faster ... I am a little frustrated.

Voici deux photos réalisées en Normandie il y a deux semaines environ... Deux ambiances marquées et bien différentes. Pause, un instant, la rivière et l'affut.
Ces temps-ci le temps est plutôt mauvais. Le froid s'installe et la pluie s'invite.
Cela laisse beaucoup de place à la réflexion et au travail malgré le fait que le violoncelle soit inutilisable... Lyktwasst a beaucoup avancé sur un nouveau titre, en quelques jours il a quasiment terminé la composition et l'enregistrement des différentes parties de basse et de guitare. Quant à moi, j'avance sur mes parties de chant. Parfois la composition à deux s'exécute comme un quatre mains, parfois nous travaillons seuls et nous nous retrouvons sur le travail accompli.
J'ai envie d'avancer plus vite... Je suis un peu frustrée.

Last night, we got some invitations to attend to the inauguration of a new place dedicated to men clothing at "Le Bon Marché" store in Paris. This was the very first French department store, founded in 1838. This store has very typical architecture of its time, it is also a place which combines the best clothing brands, cosmetics, jewelry ... For the occasion, a ephemeral watch shop was mounted. There were some very old watches (pocket watches) and new ones too ...
Some musicians were roaming the aisles and were playing some song from time to time. Impressive buffet, Champagne, and so, a lot of pushing and jostling.

And... bad luck, an important piece of our cello broke. We will try to fix this as soon as possible in order to avoid the next album's delay.

Hier soir nous eu des invitations pour assister à l'inauguration d'un nouvel espace dédié à l'habillement de l'homme au magasin Le Bon Marché, à Paris. Ce fut le tout premier grand magasin français fondé en 1838. Ce magasin, c'est tout d'abord une architecture très typique de son temps, c'est aussi un lieu où se côtoient les plus grandes marques de vêtements, de cosmétiques, de bijoux... Pour l'occasion, une boutique éphémère de montres a été montée. Elle présente de très anciens modèles (montres gousset) et des montres plus récentes...
Des musiciens sillonnaient les allées et s'installaient de temps à autres pour jouer quelques morceaux. Buffet impressionnant, Champagne, bousculades, bousculades...

Et... Manque de chance, une pièce importante de notre violoncelle s'est cassée. Nous allons essayer de régler ce problème au plus vite afin d'éviter tout délai supplémentaire pour le prochain album.

Here are some pictures we took from and old subway train. These are details of architecture from the 30's. It was quite interesting to dive into this retro mood. It made seniors remember their youth. The subways in which we circulates today are pretty vintage too in fact. I believe they remains from the 80's since the Sprague-Thomson trains (in which we were) were fully withdrawn from circulation in 1983.
Otherwise, we should post some of the photos we took in Normandy this week. We need to make a little selection first...

Voici quelques photos que nous avons faites de l'ancienne rame de métro. Ce sont des détails de cette architecture des années 30. C'était assez intéressant de se plonger un peu dans cette ambiance rétro. Ca rappelait leur jeunesse aux personnes âgées. Les métros dans lesquels on circule aujourd'hui sont assez vintage eux aussi finalement. Je crois qu'elles datent des années 80 puisque les rames Sprague-Thomson (dans laquelle nous avons circulé) ont été retirées de la circulation en 1983, pour les dernières.
Sinon, nous sommes en train de sélectionner les photos prises en Normandie, elles arriveront cette semaine. Un petit choix s'impose...

Happy happy flowers at Versailles

We took a couple of days off in the Pays d'Auge in Normandy few days ago. The opportunity to take some pictures and think quietly.
On monday, september 13th, we had the chance to be at the inauguration of the "Murakami" exhibition at the Versailles castle. A real opportunity to discover the castle without the usual daily flood of tourists. The Hall of Mirrors was beautiful and despite all the controversies related to this exhibition, we did appreciated the visit. The golden Buddha in the garden brings some kind of new life to Versailles.
Otherwise our projects are moving forward, of course, but it takes time. The album takes shape as the days goes. Since the beginning of Life's Decay, the project remained a studio project. Knowing that, we operated in a very experimental way, recording dozens of different instruments and sounds. Therefore our music was hard to imagine on stage.
Time goes on and the desire to experience new things arise. Today, and since the last album, we are thinking about making an album that could be played on stage. Therefore, we are now focusing on a few instruments in order to make this possible. It is as exciting as terrifying.

Quelques jours de détente pour nous, passés dans le Pays d'Auge en Normandie. L'occasion d'y faire quelques photos et de réfléchir au calme.
Lundi 13 septembre, nous avons au eu la chance de profiter de l'inauguration de l'exposition "Murakami" à Versailles. Une véritable opportunité pour redécouvrir le château qui d'habitude est rempli du flot quotidien de touristes. La galerie des glaces était magnifique et malgré toutes les polémiques liées à cette exposition, nous avons beaucoup apprécié la visite. Le Bouddha doré dans le jardin apporte un nouveau souffle à Versailles, il s'y passe quelque chose.
Nos projets avancent bien sûr, mais cela prend du temps. Les jours passent et l'album prend forme. Depuis l'année dernière, de nouvelles envie nous titillent. Depuis le début de l'aventure Life's Decay, le projet est resté un projet studio. Sachant que nous fonctionnons de manière très expérimentale, enregistrant des dizaines de sons différents formant la colonne vertébrale de notre musique, notamment sur le dernier album, c'était très compliqué pour nous d'imaginer ce résultat en live.
Le temps passe et l'envie de vivre de nouvelles expériences se présente. Aujourd'hui, elle est là en nous depuis le précèdent album et nous avons donc imaginé un album pouvant se reproduire sur scène. Nous nous sommes rencentrés sur quelques instruments et faisons maintenant le pari de pouvoir jouer sur scène prochainement cet album. C'est très excitant et à la fois terrifiant.

We though... let's talk a little more about oursevles. Let's reveal more from us, from our universe. What makes our world, our wishes.
So the blog should be much more activ. We may talk about projects which grow up in our minds...
At the moment, we are composing and recording new tracks for the upcoming album which won't be available until a moment. A lot of things have slownd down our work this year : computer problems, complicated configurations, new hardware which were too powerful for our computers, so we had a lot of things to fix. The year passed really quickly and we saw us snowed under theses little problems which quickly became a difficulty to overcome. Nowdays, everything works perfectly and we can fully enjoy our new musical hardware. Things are now possible.
Our new "Dyssera" vinyl disc release has been a real pleasure for us. It's nice to hold in our hands that beautiful thing !
Finally, we decided that it was important to translate the blog in French.

We are going to make new pictures this week-end, so we'll soon show you new photographs.
We're re-thinking on the general aspect of the blog, its organisation and its construction. Changes will come with time.
We'll also try to finish three tracks in order to make theses available for listen soon - maybe. We hope that you'll enjoy this new turn of events !

Nous avons dorénavant l'envie de parler un peu plus de nous. De dévoiler davantage de notre univers, de ce qui constitue notre monde et nos envies.
Nous alimenterons donc plus fréquemment le blog. Nous dévoilerons peut-être quelques projets qui ont germé dans nos têtes récemment... Mais tout ça petit à petit.
Ces temps-ci, nous sommes acharnés sur la composition de nouveaux morceaux pour un futur album. Pleins de choses ont fait que cette année, notre travail a sans cesse été retardé : pannes informatiques, configuration compliquée, nouveau matériel trop puissant pour les ordinateurs, nouvelles configurations à monter etc. L'année est passée très vite et on s'est vus submergés par ces petits problèmes qui sont vite une montagne à franchir lorsqu'on n'est pas informaticien. Aujourd'hui, tout fonctionne parfaitement et on peut profiter de notre matériel avec un grand plaisir. Maintenant, tout est permis.
La sortie du vinyle "Dyssera" a été une grande satisfaction pour nous. Quel bonheur de tenir dans nos mains ce bel objet !
Aussi, nous avons finalement jugé qu'il était important que l'on parle français sur le blog. Bien sûr, vous trouverez toujours la traduction en anglais. Pour les petits français nouveaux venus sur le blog, donc, n'hésitez pas à découvrir notre musique sur nos différents sites :

Here is the description :

Dyssera is Life’s Decay first release on vinyl disc. This vinyl is a 33T LP disc that contains a selection of twelve songs from the Life's Decay acoustic era. Thus, "Dyssera" is a combination of the "Dysrieuses" and "Eklaasera" albums titles. Side A is therefore made of six songs from the Dysrieuses album and the B side, of six songs from the Eklaasera album. Of course, the sound has been remastered and specifically adapted for the vinyl media.
Dyssera was thought as an collection object and is made of visuals specially created for this release. The packaging is a thick cardboard gatefold wich opens to a width of 63 centimeters.
With Dyssera, forget the digital and the computer bugs, have something real in your hands, go retro and listen to a warmer and more authentic sound on the old turntable of your cellar (or that newly purchased for the occasion).

We have been a little bit quiet this last month because we had a lot of sound and computer problems while upgrading our home studio with new hardware for better quality recordings. Now everything has been fixed and we will be able to record new music soon !
