A new band photograph for 2011 !

Here is a new band photograph for Life's Decay! We took pictures of each other and then I processed the photo (Life's Decay, eternal Do It Yourself!) The photo was taken a little while ago now but I had a lot of hesitation whith the colors. I try to make color photographs, although they are fairly close to the black and white. The endless problem is that the colors are always different from my screen, my printer and the offset printing plants in case we print this photo on a forthcoming booklet... This is one the reasons that pushed me to make monochrome artworks!

Voici une nouvelle photo de groupe pour Life's Decay ! Nous nous sommes pris en photo à tour de rôle et j'ai ensuite traité l'image (Life's Decay, éternel Do It Yourself !). Cette photo a été prise il y a un petit moment maintenant mais j'ai eu pas mal d'hésitations quant aux couleurs. Je cherche à faire des photos couleur bien qu'elles soient assez proches du noir et blanc. L'éternel problème est que les couleurs seront toujours différentes entre mon écran, mon imprimante et les imprimantes offset des usines si l'on imprime cette photo sur un prochain livret... C'est une des raisons qui m'a poussé à faire des artworks en aplats monochrome !

Coney Island, Creepy Island

Coney Island is located in the south of Brooklyn (NY) The area is mainly made of amusement parks, founded in the years 1860/1870, bordered by the beach. The amusement parks reached the peak of their popularity in the early twentieth century and declined after the Second World War. Today, some of the original attractions have been destroyed, others are abandoned, some remain active like the Wonder Wheel and since 2010, some renovations and new attractions have been build. The idea of ​​going to Coney Island came to me after watching the movie "The Warriors" from 1979. We went to the seasonal opening and the atmosphere was quite dead. Many things are still closed but the old abandoned attractions were worth the look. The ride on the great "Wonder Wheel" from 1918 was also very nice.

Coney Island est situé au sud de Brooklyn (NY) L'endroit se compose principalement de parcs d'attractions, fondé dans les années 1860/1870, qui avoisinent la plage. Les parcs d'attractions ont atteint le sommet de leur popularité au début du xxe siècle et déclina après la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Aujourd'hui, certaines des attractions d'origine ont été détruites, d'autres sont à l'abandon, quelques unes restent actives dont la Wonder Wheel et depuis 2010, quelques nouvelles attractions et rénovations voient le jour. L'idée d'aller à Coney Island me vînt après avoir visionné le film "The Warriors" de 1979. Nous y sommes allés à l'ouverture saisonnière et l'ambiance était plutôt morte. Beaucoup de choses sont encore fermées mais les vieilles attractions abandonnées valaient le détour. Le tour sur la grande roue "Wonder Wheel" de 1918 était également fort sympathique.

American Museum of Natural History (Central Park West at 79th Street)

During our trip, we had the opportunity to visit the huge American Museum of Natural History of New York city, established in 1869. Here are some pictures including several on the aquatic life as we thought it was one of the best part (probably freshly restored)

Durant notre voyage, nous avons entre autre visité le grand musée d'histoire naturelle de la ville de New-York, inauguré en 1877. En voici quelques photos dont plusieurs sur la partie aquatique, la mieux réalisée à notre goût (probablement rénovée il y a peu de temps)

We are back from New York after a short rainy but nice stay. Small blog-posts will follow soon with little pictures !

Otherwise, no luck, my computer has crashed again. I persist in wanting to keep my old PC because we must stop changing computers and phones every year. My computer is 6 years old, it crashes sometimes but it is still running fine with XP. So back to repair, recovery in the next few days, time loss anticipated to reinstall all my softwares but no data loss thanks to my several external hard drives ...

Nous voilà de retour de New-York après un petit séjour pluvieux mais sympathique. De petits blog-posts suivront avec de petites photos prochainement !

Autrement, pas de chance, mon ordinateur a encore planté. Je m'obstine a vouloir garder mon vieux PC car il faut cesser de changer les ordinateurs et téléphones tous les ans. Mon ordinateur a 6 ans, parfois il plante mais il tient la route avec XP. Retour en réparation, récupération prochaine, quelques jours de perte à prévoir pour réinstaller tous mes logiciels mais pas de données perdues grâce à mes divers disques durs externes...
